About Mary Peacock

As a Certified Instructor in the Authentic Method of Pilates, my goal is to help you safely and effectively experience the benefits of Pilates 

I began working out regularly as a young teenager around the time aerobic videos had become very popular. As I continued the effort over the past 20+ years I have tried and enjoyed a lot of new things along the way and have enjoyed every bit of the cross training I get! My more serious approach to fitness and health begins with my family. A family history of heart disease, cancer, "clinically diagnosed" obesity, etc.  

Giving the motivation I needed to set life long goals to maintain a healthy weight, diet, and exercise program. Having fallen many times into those junk food and lazy day traps, I can honestly say nope I haven't arrived!!! I will always have to work at this. Now finally, the day has come when I could take my dreams of sharing fitness with people to a new level. I look forward to meeting every new client and hope they can experience for their body healthy changes that benefit them!  

I have studied Pilates for over 7 years. It all started for me at an annual get together with some old high school and childhood friends. We were all sharing our new healthy eating, exercise fads, etc. One of the girls brought a book about Pilates and began demonstrating it. Well it was all over from there I was hooked! After six months of practicing with books and tapes on my own. I realized there had to be more. I researched further finding several different methods and choose to practice the original one. I found that there were only three authentically certified people locally and began taking lessons in both private and group mat sessions. After 20 or so lessons I realized this was for me! And since there seem to be a shortage of Authentic Certified Instructors I began working toward becoming certified

 

Qualifications and Experience

	Completed over 75 prerequisite private lessons
	Auditioned to be accepted into the program. January 2002 began Extensive training in Chicago Illinois one of the few centers that offer training under the heirs to the method, Master Teachers Romana Krysanowska and Sari Pace.
	In addition I trained under the following Teachers of Teachers; Juanita Lopez and Janice Dulak, Rhonda Celenza .
	Continue to attend intense training seminars.
	Worked as an apprentice under Teacher of Teachers Janice Dulak at In Line Studio located in the dance department at Columbia College where Janice was also the Director of the Dance program for the past 10 years. She now runs one of the many training studios in Champagne Il
	Completed over 700 hours of Teacher training.
